Dr Michelle Hutchinson is the Clinical Director at Oxford Psychiatry Group and a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Old Age Psychiatry. She has extensive expertise in cognitive disorders, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, depression, anxiety and neuropsychiatric conditions in later life.
She trained at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, completing an intercalated BSc in Psychology taught jointly with the Maudsley Hospital, one of the UK’s leading centres for psychiatry and neuroscience. This foundation shaped her clinical focus on cognition, neuropsychiatry and the interface between mental and physical health.
Dr Hutchinson works across specialist memory services, providing comprehensive assessments for memory loss, cognitive decline and complex neuropsychiatric presentations. She has a special interest in ADHD, menopause-related cognitive and mood symptoms, and the overlap between hormonal changes, attention, memory and emotional wellbeing.
She is trained in the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and has experience in medico-legal work, offering expert opinion in cases involving cognitive disorders, capacity and psychiatric assessment in older adults.
Dr Hutchinson also leads training programmes for GPs and multidisciplinary teams and is dedicated to improving early recognition of cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders.
