Wellbeing Services

At Oxford Psychiatry Group, our Wellbeing Services provide psychological and therapeutic support to help people understand themselves better, manage emotional difficulties, and build resilience. These services are psychology-led rather than psychiatry-led, and focus on practical skills, emotional insight, and sustainable change.

Wellbeing support can be helpful on its own, or alongside psychiatric care. Many people choose this route to improve mental wellbeing, manage stress, strengthen relationships, or address long-standing patterns that affect confidence, sleep, or daily functioning.

Our clinicians work in line with NICE guidance, evidence-based psychological practice, and nationally recognised therapeutic frameworks.

How Our Wellbeing Services Work

Your wellbeing journey begins with an initial assessment to understand your needs, goals, and current challenges. Together, we identify the most appropriate therapeutic approach and agree on a plan that feels manageable and supportive.

Sessions are delivered remotely via secure video consultations, allowing flexibility and continuity. Therapy may be short-term and focused, or longer-term where deeper exploration is helpful. Progress is reviewed regularly, and care is adapted as your needs change.

Our focus is always on helping you feel understood, supported, and empowered.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, evidence-based therapy recommended by NICE for anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, PTSD and insomnia. It focuses on understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and learning practical strategies to respond differently to challenges.

CBT is particularly effective for managing worry, low mood, avoidance behaviours, and unhelpful thinking patterns. Therapy is goal-focused and skills-based, helping you develop tools that can be used long after sessions end.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy recommended by NICE for PTSD and trauma-related difficulties. It helps the brain process distressing memories that may still feel emotionally “stuck” or overwhelming.

EMDR can be helpful for people experiencing flashbacks, intrusive memories, emotional distress linked to past events, or trauma-related anxiety. The approach is carefully paced and delivered in a safe, supportive environment.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people manage intense emotions, impulsivity, and difficulties in relationships. It is particularly helpful for emotional dysregulation, self-destructive behaviours, and long-standing coping difficulties.

DBT focuses on skills such as emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. Therapy helps people build stability while developing healthier ways of responding to emotional stress.

Anxiety and Stress Support

Our wellbeing services offer structured psychological support for anxiety and stress, including generalised anxiety, panic, social anxiety, and work-related stress. Therapy helps you understand triggers, reduce physical symptoms, and develop coping strategies that calm the nervous system.

Support is tailored to your experiences and may include CBT techniques, grounding strategies, emotional regulation skills, and lifestyle adjustments supported by psychological evidence.

Relationships and Interpersonal Difficulties

Relationship difficulties can affect emotional wellbeing, confidence and mental health. Our clinicians support individuals experiencing challenges in romantic relationships, family dynamics, friendships, or workplace interactions.

Therapy focuses on communication, boundaries, attachment patterns, and emotional awareness, helping you build healthier and more fulfilling connections.

Sexual Difficulties

Sexual wellbeing is an important part of overall mental health. Psychological therapy can help with difficulties such as low desire, performance anxiety, intimacy concerns, or emotional barriers related to sex and relationships.

Support is provided sensitively, confidentially, and without judgement, focusing on emotional, relational and psychological factors rather than physical causes alone.

Self-Esteem and Confidence

Low self-esteem and confidence can develop from past experiences, criticism, trauma or long-standing patterns of self-doubt. Therapy helps you understand these patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and build a more balanced and compassionate view of yourself.

Improving self-esteem often leads to better relationships, improved work confidence, and greater emotional resilience.

Career Confidence and Work-Related Concerns

Career confidence difficulties may include imposter syndrome, fear of failure, work-related anxiety, or challenges with decision-making and progression. Psychological support helps clarify goals, reduce anxiety, and strengthen confidence in professional settings.

This work is particularly helpful for people navigating career transitions, leadership roles, or workplace stress.

Support is provided sensitively, confidentially, and without judgement, focusing on emotional, relational and psychological factors rather than physical causes alone.

Insomnia and Sleep Difficulties

Sleep difficulties are closely linked to mental wellbeing. Psychological therapy for insomnia follows NICE-recommended approaches, including CBT-I, to address thoughts, behaviours and habits that interfere with sleep.

Support focuses on improving sleep quality, reducing nighttime anxiety, and establishing healthier sleep routines without reliance on long-term medication.
